The Texas legislative session is in full swing—and this year it features an unprecedented number of bills that threaten the environment. Lawmakers are proposing to tie the hands of local communities; quash public participation; sacrifice public health; and abandon longstanding commitments to clean energy.
Alliance for Clean Texas (ACT) is a coalition where environmental, public interest, consumer-rights and faith groups join forces to work for a clean, healthy state. To address legislators’ fast-moving agenda, ACT is implementing a timely and informative program to help you follow bills and take action on a weekly basis.
From now until the end of session :
- We will send out ACTion Alerts on Friday to notify you of bills that may come up for hearing or be up for a vote on the floor the following week.
- We invite you to join a conference call every Sunday at 7:00 pm to hear about where bills are in the coming week and to learn about details about various bills to be heard in Committee or those coming up for vote. The call will also notify participants of relevant legislative hearings on bills that will be held throughout the week. Any updates to important bills added to hearings or for votes will be discussed on these calls. The toll free call-in number for the call is 866-501-6174. Follow the prompts. The code for the call is 31790031892#
- We will invite you to ACT coalition partners lobby day events that will take place throughout the remainder of the session.
We hope you will join us in working to keep Texas clean, health, and safe for democracy! If you or your friends would like to sign up for these alerts and calls, please visit http://www.acttexas.org/content/join-us.
