Earth Day Houston
Seven years ago in 2005 we held our first Earth Day 5K in Bellaire, Texas featuring a small Earth Day festival as a post race party. The race attracted 300 registrants. Since then the 5K has grown into a major Earth Day Festival with over 15,000 attending in 2011. No longer a 5K event, Air Alliance Houston now hosts each year in April the Earth Day Houston Festival at Discovery Green. This FREE one-day eco celebration focuses on the merits of mindful, sustainable living while educating and encouraging Houstonians to preserve, conserve and enhance our city and the Earth. For the event the Park is divided into zones of family-friendly, educational and interactive displays and activities, spotlighting air, water, land, and sustainability. In addition, there is a Kids Energy Zone, stage entertainment, and a Farmers Market. The festival showcases non-profit organizations and businesses with a green initaitive.
