Air Alliance Houston is proud to have a variety of partnerships with the following area colleges and universities:
The Barbara Jordan-Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs at Texas Southern University has been a leader in the environmental justice movement in Houston. We regularly attend forums and conferences hosted by the School of Public Affairs. We are also honored to have Dr. Robert Bullard, the Dean of BJML and the “father of the environmental justice movement,” serve on our Board of Directors.
The Environmental Health Service at Baylor College of Medicine is the recipient of a grant from the Patient-Centere
Rice University is one of several partners in an ongoing investigation of the metal recycling industry in Houston in which Air Alliance Houston participates. Air Alliance Houston is also a partner in the Houston GREEN Film Series, which is hosted at the Rice Media Center.
The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences has been a partner of Air Alliance Houston for many years. Every year, members of the department host a booth at Earth Day Houston. The department also helps us test air monitoring equipment, has partnered with us in the development of the Houston Clean Air Network, and provided us with guidance on complex air quality issues.
The UH Honors College is one of the founding partners of the Houston Clean Air Network.
Our current partnerships with the UT School of Public Health include a research fellowship and an investigation of the metal recycling industry in Houston. One of our board members, Dr. Thomas Stock, is a professor at the UT School of Public Health.
Our former executive director, Adrian Shelley, is a proud alumnus of the University of Texas School of Law. Adrian’s first encounter with Air Alliance Houston was as an Environmental Law Clinic student in 2008, working on a Clean Air Act citizen suit against the Chevron Phillips Cedar Bayou Plant. Adrian also joined Air Alliance in 2010 as a legal fellow in the Joe R. and Theresa L Long Career Launch Program.
