Intellect U Well, Inc. and Outdoor Afro Houston once again host the #NaturebytheBook reading group! Our reading will be Black and Green: Black Insights for the Green Movement (Hamilton Books, 2012) by Jamal Ali.
Please make sure to register beforehand!
This book is a call to action for the Black community to join the green movement. The book offers insights, ideas, and strategies that demonstrate how Black people can benefit from and fuel the go-green effort.
This outing will take place at Willow Waterhole Greenway, tucked away in the southwest Houston neighborhood of Westbury just south of Meyerland. The greenway, a stunning gem of nature still relatively unknown to Houstonians, is a 300-plus-acre network of lakes, prairie, marsh, islands, native plants, wildlife, and park amenities. This unusual urban setting is designed to protect against Houston’s inevitable flooding and to bring the community together for conservation, education, and recreation.
We will meet in the parking lot of Willow Waterhole Greenway, closest to the Bob Schwartz Gazebo.
