Port Houston has set its sights on Carbon Neutrality

We have been working with our Healthy Port Communities Coalition partners to organize port-side communities, advance language justice, and advocate around environmental issues that will create a healthier future for Houston.

Last October we celebrated a win with Port Houston as they announced the use of cleaner dredging equipment in segment 1A (an 11.5 mile stretch) of their 6-segment expansion project (aka ‘Project 11’).

Now, Port Houston has announced a goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. Setting a goal is the first step to achieving it. This is an ambitious goal, and we hope that Port Houston will continue to work with the Healthy Port Communities Coalition and other port-side community advocates to ensure that this goal is met on time and prioritizes the health and the well being of Houstonians, especially those who stand to be most affected.
