Riley Bennington | Freeport, TX - Part 2 of a 5-part video series
We’re continuing our 5-part Breathing on the Fenceline: Voices Confronting CCS Push in Texas video series with a look at what’s happening south of Houston, in Brazoria County—where fossil fuel infrastructure looms large and the impacts are all too real.
This Gulf Coast region is packed with plastic plants and gas terminals that pollute the air and water, while surrounding communities are left to deal with the fallout.
In Junio 2022, the Freeport LNG pipeline in Quintana exploded, launching a 450-foot fireball into the sky. For many, it was a wake-up call. For others, just another reminder of the daily risks.
People like Riley have had enough. They’re working with the Texas Campaign for the Environment to organize, mobilize, and demand cleaner, safer futures for their communities. And now, as fossil fuel companies try to rebrand through Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), residents are pushing back against the greenwashing.
🎥 Watch our latest video featuring Riley’s story—and hear how Gulf Coast Texans are resisting polluters and standing up for real solutions, not more false promises.
