Yesterday we joined STOP TxDOT I-45 and highway fighters from across the state in Austin to demand that the Texas Transportation Commission (TTC) reimagine a new transportation future for our state and make civic engagement accessible to everyone.
AAH’s Transportation Justice Coordinator Melissa Beeler gave formal comments – you can read them here – on why wider highways won’t solve congestion problems but will cause an increase in ozone levels and motor vehicle emissions. Leticia Gutierrez, our Government Relations and Community Outreach Director, underlined TxDOT’s neglect of Spanish speakers in the decision-making process – you can read Leticia’s comments here.
Check out this Houston Chronicle article for more on yesterday’s action. Thank you to everyone who showed up in person and online!
