On Tuesday, September 10, the Harris County Commissioners Court will consider a request by the county’s Pollution Control Services Department (PCS) for $5.9M in additional funding for personnel and equipment. The proposed funding is aimed at resourcing and modernizing the Pollution Control Services Department based on the recommendations of a recently completed Gap Analysis of the county’s emergency response capabilities. This funding will be a critical step towards improving Harris County’s ability to better ensure community safety in the future, both during times of emergency and on a more routine basis. Please join us tomorrow at the Commissioners Court to speak out in favor of this critical agenda item to show community support for the PCS’ request. The meeting will be held at 10 a.m. at 1001 Preston Street, Suite 934, Houston, TX 77002 . We’re expecting that this item will be discussed in the morning part of the meeting. You can request an appearance by filling out this form in advance or sign up to speak on the day prior to the start of the meeting. Please find here a 2-pager developed by the county outlining the results and recommendations of the Gap Analysis to help you draft your public comment. The full agenda of the meeting is available on the Harris County website. If you’re unable to join us, please consider expressing your support by submitting your comments by email to [email protected].
