Today, we mourn the loss of a life-long champion for Houston’s underserved and for justice for all. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee dedicated her life to the Bayou City and to causes that affected its most vulnerable, from the early years of the HIV/AIDS epidemic to the landmark Violence Against Women Act and to the most pressing issue of our day, climate change. Congresswoman Jackson-Lee was a stalwart ally to the mission of Air Alliance Houston, believing deeply that no-one and no-where, and especially not her beloved city of Houston, should be a sacrifice zone. The cause of clean air and environmental justice is stronger today because of Congresswoman Jackson-Lee, and we here at Air Alliance Houston honor and thank her.
