Last year the EPA, formally determined that Texas (namely the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality or TCEQ) hasn’t done enough to take action against this lung-searing pollution, downgrading the Houston area to ‘severe non-attainment’ of the federal health-based ozone standards in the Clean Air Act.
TCEQ is revising their State Implementation Plan – to be implemented as soon as possible but no later than July 2027 – detailing how it will improve air quality in our region. This is your chance to have input.
With your help, we can collectively demand that TCEQ provides a SIP that meets federal standards to address Ozone-forming pollution and improves air quality for all Texans.
