The Intercontinental Terminals Company (ITC) has applied to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for a Renewal of a Federal Operating Permit to authorize the operation of the Deer Park Terminal. This is the facility that exploded in 2019 and left a toxic plume over the Houston area for days. The investigation of this past incident is still ongoing, and there has been minimal transparency about ITC’s response.
Please join us at an upcoming Public Hearing to tell TCEQ they should not renew ITC’s permit until the company addresses community concerns regarding safety and health.

Where: Gaines Mason Auditorium – Deer Park Auditorium North
The ITC Deer Park facility stores petrochemical liquids and gasses, fuel oil and bunker oil, and highly toxic chemicals like benzene, 1,3-Butadiene, and Ethylene Oxide. The Deer Park location is one of the largest “tank farms” in the country, with 227 tanks on-site.
Because this is a federal operating permit, it must also be reviewed by the EPA Region 6 Office. Last year, the EPA objected to ITC’s permit renewal application in Pasadena after the community raised concerns about the company’s track record and the safety of the facility.
