The W.A. Parish coal-fired power plant in Fort Bend County (located just outside of Houston), has threatened public health and the natural environment for decades. This outdated facility is one of the worst polluters in the nation, and responsible for ~177 premature deaths a year. 

On June 30, 2022, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will meet with the community to discuss ideas for limiting pollution from power plants like this. It is the EPA’s mission to protect human and environmental health. EPA can do this through laws that limit pollution from industrial sources. Now is the time to bring our concerns about the impacts of power plant pollution on our community’s health and the environment (rivers, lakes, streams, and drinking water). 

We will be joining Fort Bend County community members in canvassing their neighborhoods. We will be knocking on doors to inform and encourage community to join the EPA on June 30.

As a volunteer, you will be asked to block walk the community and distribute information on the upcoming EPA meeting, so we can have a successful turnout.
