Environmental Encuentro

December 2, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Have you ever wondered WHY it is so difficult to get straight answers out of our government agencies? At this event hosted by the Texas Health and Environment Alliance (THEA), Dr. Stephen Lester will walk us through the truth and consequences of government agencies recognizing environmental hazards in our communities, and how low-level chemical exposure can impact our health.

In the communities around the Jones Rd Superfund Site, varying levels of chemicals in the air and water have been observed. Dr. Lance Hallberg from UTMB will present findings from a recent environmental study and there will be a panel discussion after Dr. Stephen Lester gives a meaningful keynote talk over lunch. In fact, Dr. Lester may know more about the EPA Superfund process than anyone in America. In 1978, Dr. Stephen Lester’s work on the Love Canal Toxic Waste Site led to the creation of the Superfund law.

Lunch will be provided!
