One Breath Partnership, a coalition that AAH is a part of, released today a new report “Formaldehyde Air Pollution in Houston: Monitoring Shows Plumes of Carcinogenic Formaldehyde in Neighborhoods Along Houston Ship Channel,” in collaboration with the Houston Health Department. The report, based on the Health Department’s recent year-long air monitoring study, found that concentrations of formaldehyde along the Ship Channel exceeded the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s health screening levels, increasing the risk of cancer for residents in largely Hispanic and working-class neighborhoods.
