Join Strong Towns Houston, the Rice GIS/Data Center, and community partners for an interactive workshop exploring how artificial intelligence, mapping tools, data visualization, and storytelling can help residents, advocates, planners, and neighborhood leaders communicate community priorities and drive local change. Guest presenters:

Participants will learn practical approaches to:

• Transforming data into compelling community narratives
• Using AI tools to support research, writing, and outreach
• Creating maps and visualizations that tell neighborhood stories
• Communicating local issues to decision-makers and the public
• Applying data-driven storytelling to housing, transportation, resilience, and civic engagement efforts

No prior experience with GIS, mapping, coding, or artificial intelligence is required. This workshop is accessible to community members, neighborhood leaders, students, and professionals interested in how emerging technologies can support local advocacy.
